Before the weekday catches me...

Am dragging the weekend a little longer... before the typical work week drags me into the hole. In no particular order:

Hormonal Drivers, Dinosaurs & Toy Licence

We were in the car and it got a bit bumpy. The little one went, Papa, why you drive not safe? I went, because he drives with hormones! The little one went, Papa is a hormones driver? *we started laughing* Encouraged, he went, "...and then he will become a dinosaur?" (I'm not sure what's the connection but if one doesn't drives safely one becomes extinct? Quite logical right?)

Later, the little one was 'driving' his toy, turning his steering wheel this way and than that way, the big one ( I think he must have been still holding a grudge at being called a hormones driver) went, "Why are you driving like that?" The little one went, "Because I have a TOY LICENCE!" *I almost choked laughing*

Suzuki Violin Class

So there were 5 kids in term 1, 6 kids in term 2 and now, back to 5 kids in term 3 - after 2 terms, one of the kid's parents decided to drop out because that kid wasn't keen on holding the violin still (and they want to send her for therapy classes instead).

There are 3XXs and 2XYs. The 3XXs can play an average of 2.5 pieces. The 2XYs can play... 0.7 (My XY plays 1.3, average dragged down by his other XY buddy). The teacher is having a talk with his buddy's mom so I'm not too sure if his buddy will still continue in the same class after that. Oh dear!

Anyway, I found out that all 3XXs gets encouraged to practice with canes. My XY is not. And so, I really don't care now if he doesn't catch up with the 3XXs.

What a trainwreak! 1 goes to therapy, 1 is branded a laggard and the other 3 gets regular strokes! And none of them has blown 4 candles off their cakes yet!

Bloodied

I heard a bang... and then the big one screaming, "Liu Xue le!!!" ( Blood is flowing out!) and before the little one could burst into tears, I see a huge ball of blood from under the little one's left eye, near the cheekbones, trickle down the cheek. ****!!!! All I could think of is thank the heavens he didn't burst his eyeball. It was bad enough for me to think he needed a stitch, maybe two but the bleeding eventually stopped and I held him for the next hour and a half while he slept with a frown on his babyface, after having his energy completely spent by the brawling.

Eat, Pray, Love

I'm halfways through this book and I'm loving it!

Sparkles

For someone whose mission is to cook instant noodles in under a minute, have your cake and eat it, the determination you've shown me is nothing less than inspiring. I am so so so happy for you! Congratulations! 22.3.08

Egg-Hunt

It was a really easy party. I didn't try too hard this time round, just booked the room, bought capsule toys from the 'tikam' machines, tied ribbons to them, called the caterer and set up the chocolate fountain.

The big one did more. He cut up the fruits, made popcorns and... and... filled up bowls with chips. Was that all he did? He was pottering in the kitchen for quite a while! (Hahhahaa!!!)

The small one dragged a carton of his toys downstairs to 'share'.

Had 2 GF's who contributed to the basket of 'eggs' and so, I had enough to hold 3 rounds of hunts. I think most kids eventually made off with at least 3 finds.

A BIG THANK YOU to all for your generosity and presence. I really hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did!

CHEERS!

8 and a half hours

That's how long it took me to make him complete his violin practice ( which is to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star 5X)

9AM
Practice your violin!
No, my legs no energy!
Practice your violin! We can go to the "BOOKS Sale at EXPO and then to the Beach after that"
No, my legs no energy!
>>> I threatened to leave the house without him. Eventually did go without him.

11AM
I had a lovely time at EXPO! Why don't you practice your violin? We can make popcorns and then go to the beach. Quick! It's a lovely day.
>>> Boy refused. End up sending him to the room to think it through and to come out only when he's ready to start his practice. He stayed inside for about 45 minutes before coming out.

1PM
Boy played Twinkle nicely for 4X. Then 40,000 excuses followed...
>>> Boy was sent to his room the 2nd time. This time, he cried himself to sleep.

4PM
He woke up. I fed him milk & lunch.

5PM
We picked up the violins again. He played Twinkle beautifully for the 5th time.

We are finally going to the beach!

Holidayyyyyyyyyyyy!!!

Yippee!!... took Monday off. So this weekend is going to be 200% more... 'exhausting'? Also, suggested to the Big One that we hop over to Perth for a short holiday. He's said ok! Yippeee!!!!!!! I've always always always always wanted to holiday on a caravan since I knew what caravans were. I used to dream over caravan catalogues!

Told the small one we'd go on a holiday in a "Caravan" and he went "WHAT?" ( this boy of mine is half deaf) Anway, I told him its a van with beds inside and he went, "Bunk Beds? I like Bunk Beds!" Errr...

Oh, I found out today I appeared on Page 3 ( which I thought was darn funny) of the Saigon Times Daily on Monday. All in all, the event/news was covered by 9 different media! I'm really pleased by how it (the Vietnam project) turned out. Those late nights and hair pulling days over the past weeks did result in something huh? *Pat own shoulders*

Revert

re·vert:
intr.v. re·vert·ed, re·vert·ing, re·verts
1. To return to a former condition, practice, subject, or belief.
2. Law To return to the former owner or to the former owner's heirs. Used of money or property.
3. Genetics To undergo reversion.

So if someone asks you to "revert" to them, you can return whatever they have given you, back to them, in the original condition.
And if someone asks you to "revert back", then tell them simply you cannot because the laws of nature prescribes that one cannot turn back the clock.

Fantastic!

Muffin Conviction

Me: *pointing to the chocolate muffin* Shall we eat that tomorrow?
Boy: No! Eat it now!
Me: Why do we have to eat it now?
Boy: Because it will be become old!
Me: *laughing* Old? The muffin will become old?
Boy: Yes!
Me: So what happens when the muffin becomes old?
Boy: Then it will become lumpy!
Me: Ok, so we should eat it now?
Boy: Yes, eat it now, 'otherwhites' it will become old and lumpy!

Off to Vietnam...

...tomorrow. Wish me luck. It's been hell working on this one.
I so have to make it up to these two! Both fell asleep in the car whilst waiting for me one evening last week. I would have cobbled the big one on the head if it was the other way round.

Between opening my eyes this morning and now

.... I have done 45 mins of yoga - with eyes half closed, changed, received 5 kisses from the little one, droved to work, ate kaya toasts, with 2 soft boiled eggs , drank coffee roasted with trans-fat laded margarine whilst scanning the newspaper headlines, worked, spoke to my mother, worked, receive a video call from the big one - to show me that both he and the little one are stuck under a bridge somewhere in the city - because they were caught in the rain, worked, talked to people I haven't spoken to before, worked (probably sending out 20 or 30 emails by now) dropped my shoes off at the cobbler, ate prawn noodle soup for lunch, gave $2 to a man who asked if I could give him some money to buy food..... and now, blogged.

And I thought my life was boring!

Our 3rd Annual Egg Hunt

Work

Brought the little one to my office after dinner last evening for another 2 hours work. Entertained him with 2 capsule toys (from those coin-operated machines), some paper, pens & markers, and the photocopying machine. He was so thrilled by the fact that we can photocopy his squiggles. Hhahhaa... I did managed to get some work done in-between too! Amazing.

Weekend log

Sat: Yoga(me), BY's school curriculum update, Violin lesson, late lunch at Waraku in east coast. I got greedy > ordered cold noodles, hokkaido crab paperpot, beef curry udon, rice bowl topped with chicken chunks, prawn sushi, egg sushi & sashimi salad. Then we slept... till 7:30pm. A call from the mother brought us all on a guilt-trip to an auditorium where the dad was performing. Goodness, you forget that parents may have talents. He was really good!

Sun: Breakfast at Bedok market then off to Expo. Thought we'd visit the travel fare but didn't because you had to buy a ticket to get in! Bought some stuff from the Popular Bookstore sale going on next door and had lunch at Bedok camp food centre - the "Tauhu Telor" there is really the best in town! Took one long afternoon nap with the small one. Had dinner somewhere near our place. On the way back, the small one got whacked in the middle of crossing the road for not walking properly. It was total meltdown between Father and Son! He totally deserved the whack! But I got upset because it happened in the middle of the road - which is not a good choice of location to start disciplining the kid so I dumped the grocery on the road and carried the small one home.
