I stopped breathing...
On Thursday, I looked through my employment contract, paying close attention on the clause on notice period. Thursday evening, I had a meeting which ended disastrously in my opinion. 2 people tried to explain to me how I should not do the things that I wanted to do. I frowned, shook my head and told them, "I don't understand what you are saying!" One walked out of the room after trying twice. The other tried explaining it several more times and gave up.
Friday morning 3am, I woke up from a non-sleep. The mind was chattering non-stop. Anyway, I woke up from the non-sleep and drew something like this....
Noon, I presented it to my boss and walked out of the meeting room breathing again.
Strolled to the coffeeshop nearby and bought myself a chicken drumstick from the Nasi Padang store and boy, was it the tastiest thing I ate this week!
Now, I wonder how my lunches will taste like next week.... >>>Better I hope!

Buses should stay in bus lanes!
Refused to talk to the man after that. He came with durian puffs from Goodwood Park to pick me up after work. No apologies, just puffs. Well, that's the closest I get to an apology.
Fast forward to this morning:
Buses should stay in bus lanes arh?
>>Yes.
So buses cannot turn right arh?
>> No.
So buses can only go straight?
>> Yes.
Buses can turn left?
>>Can.
Buses cannot turn right?
>> Cannot. Bus lanes are drawn for them. They must stay in the bus lanes. Cars get fined they go into the bus lanes so they should get fined if they come out of bus lanes.

1st week @ work
What? He's two and a half and a bit more. He called me? Yah, he did. Apparently he asked Ah Gong for my number and punched them into the phone himself, which means he recognises the numbers and if you know my mobile number, you'd know that that's a lot of numbers to recognise. On the way home with the Big One, I told him I didn't answer my son's calls! He called 3 times and Mummy didn't answer any one of them! Quite horrible. So now I'm hoping that the next time he calls, I'd pick it up and also that he won't start to call me too often because I'm really really busy at work.
Work. There's just so much to pick up and the whole business is entirely a new species to me but everything so far has been interesting, exciting & engaging. I feel adequately challenged and my motivation level remains at a positively high level at this point.
Also, as an added plus, I'm located in a food paradise! Monday, I had Indonesian-Thai. Tuesday was Hock Lam Beef Noodles. Wednesday, Vietnamese with CC. Thursday, Italian with a colleague. Friday was a grab and go but the grabbed egg/mayo Panani I had on the go was really really yummy, nevermind if it was a chock full of cholesterol.

News
Christine's mother has been diagnosed with cancer. She asks us to pray for them. I will most definitely. Stay strong!
SW's mother had a bad fall and now has problems moving around. She will have to fly back to SF to be with her parents and this is not a particularly good time for her to be away from SG. Hugs to you my dear.
The Big One's company is pulling out of this region. He has about a month's worth of employment left.
...and I think the list will grow if I try to find more things that have gone 'wrong'. So will stop that right now.

Police Story Part III
Well, so the Big One's persistence paid off. The police found the woman who took the 2 phones he left at the ATM. She returned one of them. The other one is with her father who is travelling at the moment and will not be back till 2 weeks later. So when he does, she'll bring the other phone back to the station. Then, the police will apply for a court order for the phones to be returned to us.
I have my own opinions about this woman... but you can form your own.
Here's Big One's story... or as I translate it: He was at the ATM machine. There was a ledge. He put his 2 phones on the ledge ( 1 with Thai SIM card and another with Singapore SIM card - just in case you are wondering and no, I don't think he has a wife in Thailand), withdrew some cash and walked away. About 50 metres or about the equivalent of 2 minutes later, he realised he had forgotten the phones and runs back, he thinks, past the woman. Phones are gone! He borrows one from an Indian couple and rings his own number. It rang 5 times and stopped. He tried calling again but the phones are now switched off.
What happened between those 2 minutes? The woman has withdrew money from the ATM. Her transaction data has been captured. She takes the "FREE" phones on the ledge and the CCTV captures her taking them. She walks away. She sees a man running past her back to the ATM. She knows what the man is looking for. She hurries away. She receives a call on one of the phones she has taken. She struggles to find the off switch. After 5 rings, she managed to switch it off. She quickly removes herself from the scene.
Then, she goes home. She throws away the SIM cards in these 2 phones. She deletes all the data in these 2 phones. She rewards herself with one of them and gives the other one to her father. The father is pleased to get a gift from her daughter. Her father doesn't question how she got her hands on the new phones or why she has 'bought' them without a box or whether if she has 'found' them, if she has tried finding its owner. He happily uses it and takes it overseas.
"you qi fu bi you qi zi" or in English, Like Father Like Son.
I hope we will never be that kind of parent to our son.

Wondering what an idiotmatic phrase like "Flossing my heels" will mean. If you have any suggestions, please share. I need to laugh.

Staying at home
I immediately start to mutter things like ... "I don't have to (financially) I think but I don't do very well at home as a housewife!"
6 weeks. Been at home 6 weeks since I stopped work. I clean the house up an average 1.3 X a week and wonder why it is not spanking clean. The Big One has found many a strange place to put his smelly socks - the most recent, on the chair in the study. The Small One has just been toilet trained but has yet to jet properly.
Small things aside, I really enjoy my time at home with the both of them. The small one takes up most of it and saps up energy faster than I can produce them but he's such an enjoyable little fellow to be with. I miss him so much whenever he's not around me. The big one, well, in our 6 year marriage, this is the first time we have our own place to call home and we are only just learning to live with each other by ourselves. He declares loudly that he hates housework but still helps out and so I think we can still live under the same roof for a long while more.
Come Monday, I go back to work. What will going back to work cost? My relationship with the boy? My marriage? Or will it teach us all not to take things for granted and bring us more freedom to pursue the things we like?
I'm hoping it will be the latter.

East Coast is Alive!
Caught a boy throwing sand at a live crab on the beach this morning. Thankfully, the crab got away from these mini hooligans. They thew enough sand at it to make it go scuttling back to the sea.Another boy managed to catch a jellyfish in a plastic cup. It was still pulsating and this same group gathered around to look, with one suggesting that the crab and the jellyfish should be put together in a bucket so that they can 'fight and see who win'.
Personally, am not very impressed by the kids' respect for other living things but am very pleased to see there's actually some fauna left on our local beaches.
Chilli crab and seasoned jellyfish anyone?

Rock
Your dad and I were at the beach. A man was there with several kids. One of them was throwing some stones around. The man told him repeatedly to stop. He didn't. So the man picked up a big stone. Big enough to be called a rock, lifted it up meancingly over his head and shouted at the kid, " You throw one more time I throw this at you!"
I remember we both looked at each other and started laughing!
Equivalent retaliation aka tit for tat.
Works!
Smacked
Small one was uncooperative the whole evening. Didn't want to get in the car, didn't want to get out of the car, didn't want to carry his bottle properly, dragging it around, didn't want to walk properly, didn't want to be carried, didn't want to follow close, didn't want to sit down and the last straw was picking up dirty chopsticks when specifically told not to...SMACK!
The chopsticks went flying out of his hands. Am suddenly aware everyone's looking at us. Judging. Wonder if anyone thought of calling the police?
Much later, made them both apologise to each other. The small one, for being naughty and the big one, for losing his temper and for smacking the small one.
Smacking is just so passe now. I don't smack the little one at all. I just use time-outs. The big one does (evidently), but on very rare occasions.
Am not sure whether it is right or wrong. The little one was an angel after that smack but I strongly believe that because we don't smack (well, only that once in a blue moon) or beat or pinch or slap or kick him, the small one hasn't learnt how to smack or beat or pinch or slap or kick his little friends when he doesn't get what he wants either.
Good or bad?
Is it a sign of maturity or a sign of repression?
Who's to tell?
Really?

Dreams in Flight
Watched the Singapore Arts Festival's 2007 opening celebration - Dreams in Flight - at the Padang yesterday. The father-in-law, with a long history of heart attack, bypass & stroke felt his heart go arrhythmic. Swear we weren't trying to kill him with Spanish visions. The boy couldn't take the racket and wanted to leave. Think the one person who enjoyed it the most was the maid.Saturday, May 26, 2007

Raffles Creamery
Bought 12 tubs of single scoops to go from this place today. These guys are ill-prepared for this kind of order. There are no special containers, no dry ice, no thermal bags and I had to wait and wait and wait for them to sort it out. After 20 minutes, they were "ready" and handed me 12 plastic tubs of ice-cream in 4 cake boxes split into 2 plastic bags. All I could say was, "Are you sure they have not melted yet? Can they last another 20 minutes?" They looked at me, looked at the ice-cream, looked at me, looked at the ice-cream some more and then finally sat me down to wait for another 15 minutes with a complimentary scoop of cookies&cream while they refreeze the ice-cream in their kitchen.
Anyway, I did burn enough rubber to make it to the agency with stuff that still looked like ice-cream and the people I used to work with and care about got a yummy treat. They were happy and so was I.
The ice-cream is good, the range of flavours ( pina colada / singapore sling sorbet / kitkat ) excellent but I suspect the people working behind the counter are not bothered enough to care about maintaining its quality.
They should have turned away my order.
Conclusion: Eat but don't ever consider takeaways...
...unless like me today, you ask the husband, "Eh! how come the car not responding?" and the husband replies, "120 already. How much faster you want it to go???!?"
(doubleclick on the picture to see the full list of flavours)

Melting Pots
She will cook something, then promptly forget it as she goes about her other chores. Sometimes, she'd decide to heat up something, then decide to mop the floor and then a full hour later, return to the kitchen to find nothing but a charred pot.
Today, she decided to sterilize Bingyang's bottle. She told me she reminded herself to remember. But guess what? She forgot, went to the market and ended up melting the bottle into nothingness.....
Fantastic!

Siblings
They used to stay over at our place when we were all much younger and I still remember how they will fight with each other. Viciously.
We (yes, I was involved) even dragged the younger one out on the mattress to the balcony, whilst he was napping and locked him out there. Not content to wait for him to wake up, we banged on the glass doors, making such a din that it woked him up in a shock and he started brawling. His utter horror, our cruel delight. Albeit a short-lived one because the banging also brought the adults into the picture and he was swiftly released, much to our disappointment.
Anyway, for all the scratches and bruises they gave each other, the mutual goodwill, respect and lighthearted rapport they have now is unmistakably positive.
Keep looking out for each other guys!
Cheers!!!

Worms & roots
Here's more information on the worms & roots.
And I'm upset because ... I'm doing all I can, to keep you strong and healthy. If wellness can be forced, I'd force it! if a robust constitution can be bought with gold, I'd buy it! If it means enduring your tears & protests while I feed you bitter concoctions, be it worms, roots or bezoars, I'd bear it.
I have a nagging suspicion that you are here to teach me about responsibility because I've never been responsible for anything or anyone, including myself, my whole life!
So dear God, the lesson has been learnt and I have had enough! You can take it away now. Not the boy!!! Just the illnesses. I'd still be responsible for him alright.

World's funniest video
Picture this. Big One on the swing, watching Small One and another toddler kick a ball around. Ball comes towards Big One. Big One instinctively extends one leg out to kick the ball. Only that he wasn't holding on to the chains. Big One loses his balance, makes a startled "Whooopppps!" and falls backwards, off the swing. He lands with butt and head in the sand, legs still dangling on the seat. The 2 toddlers stare at the Big One. They start announcing what they saw to each other. "He fall down!" says one. "Papa fall off! Papa never hold properly!" says the other. I couldn't stop laughing. I laughed so hard the toddlers started laughing, then Big One started laughing followed by the other toddler's Dad. Took a while before we ( the other dad and me ) regained enough composure to ask if the Big One was alright. He was but what an impression he made!
I was laughing too hard to notice but Big One said Small One helped him up by pulling his arm. Awww.....Mummy's terrible.
Happy Mother's Day!
They also taught him to sing:
Mummy Mummy I love you,
you know that I really do,
so I sing for you!
Aw...

Madam Contractor Part 2
After a couple of Lycheetinis & 3 complimentary fillet mignon's steak sandwiches at Morton's in Oriental yesterday, we walked over to Marina Shopping Centre, intending to buy a rice cooker. (Oh yes, we managed to get our hands on the free sandwiches 3 times! The Big One happened to be seated facing the main door and so, everytime the waiters came in with the laden trays, he would smile so expectantly at them that they couldn't help but offer him one.)
Detoured and ended up in a DIY Home-Fix store. Big One wanted to get some putty to fix the hole in our wall. Good idea! I told him to get some silicon sealant for the kitchen & bath areas as well and wandered off.
Spotted a roll of self-adhesive 'bamboo'. Somewhat beefed-up by the alcohol, yours truly decided to DIY.
*drumroll.......................................*

Right. Here comes the answers!
Remove 2 balls from the 8.
[1st Try] Weigh 3 balls on each side of the balance scale.
If it is the same, then
[2nd Try] Weigh the 2 balls you have taken aside to find out which is the heavier ball.
Bingo!
If it is not the same, then remove the 3 balls that are lighter. Keep 1 ball from the heavier 3 and
[2nd Try] Weight the remainding 2 balls.
If it is the same, then the ball you've kept aside is the heavier one. If not, the scale will show.
There you have it!
More stress leh:
Mark the balls properly so that you can tell which bag they came from later.
Remove 1 ball from Bag 1, 2 balls from Bag 2, 3 balls from Bag 3 etc... and weigh the 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 = 45 balls on the weighing scale. If it is 2 grams more that it should be, then Bag 2 is the one with the heavier balls. If it's 3 grams more, then it would be Bag 3 and so forth.
Hope you guys had fun!

Hokkaido Ice-Cream

Went for a walk with the big one last night. Stumbled upon this ice-cream shop at The Central @ Clarke Quay. We tried Black Sesame - tastes a bit raw, Strawberries & Blueberries - top seller, nice but only if you like berry yogurt & Green Tea with Red Bean - we both liked this one.
Big One: If you like Green Tea, it comes with Red Bean and if you like Red Bean, it comes with the Green Tea. So you must like them mixed together.
Me: But they have GREEN BEAN!
Big one: ?

More stress leh!
Try figuring this one out:
Use weighing machine. You got 9 bags of marbles...in one bag, each marble is 1 gram heavier than the rest. So, in one weighing...how do u figure out which bag contains the ones with the heavier marbles?
Stress balls
I was asked this question:
If you had 8 balls (not that I do) and one of them is heavier than the rest, how would you determine which ball is the heavier one with only 2 tries on the balance scale?
***WHA PIANG!***
Told him I could do it in three tries but he only allowed me 2 so I stared at the 8 balls he drew on the whiteboard.........and then suddenly, EUREKA!!! Yes yes yes! It can be done! Had to explain to him how.
He was pretty impressed.
***PHEW!***
I was pretty impressed with myself too!
***GRIN***
Go figure. Answers in the next couple of days.

The Bark Cafe
Had dinner with YL and the boy earlier at The Bark Cafe.
Boy ate: two skinless chicken wings (or equivalent) with ketchup / some mushrooms - insisted they must be cheese-free & the top bun - insisted this must be cheese-free as well - from the mushroom burger / half a potato wedge & some 'soup of the day' (mushroom)
We ate: What's above plus Escargot.
The Chicken Wings were lovely - big, nice & juicy. Burger was good only while it was hot. The Escargot came slightly burnt but was still tasty. Soup of the day though was a complete disaster - lumpy and lukewarm. Didn't send it back because I could feed the boy with it straightaway without scalding his tongue. Wonder why he didn't take more than 2 spoonfuls......(".)
Child friendliness
(1) they have booster seats
(2) because it's alfresco, there're no doors to run into & the kid can play safely on the grass patch nearby while you eat and watch.
(3) there's a squattie in the ladies and the kid can take a dump (which he did) without you having to worry about seat cleanliness.
Will I take us there again? Definitely.
Location: 1000 Upper Changi Road North.

Just now

I guess if you are a little more than two and a half and less than three years old, anything that happened, happened only "Just now".
Anyway, this is a picture I took "just now". Found a cave for you to explore after school today. When we got there, I told you 'we are going on a bear hunt' (just like the book) and you took to your heels!
Told you dad over the phone what happened and he said, " He ran into the cave?" I said, "No! He ran away, away from the cave!"
You were hugging me when I took this shot. Can tell from your eyes you were having fun and that you knew I wasn't serious about the bears.
Love you so much!

Acedia
So, the little one sang me a birthday song (this was top on my list of happy things for the day), I made a wish, the little one helped me blow out the candles, we cut the cake, put a huge slice on a plate and shared it as a family.
Some many hours later, after HE and the little one have both gone to bed, ME, after reading up all those HR stuff, wanted to get under the covers as well. ME walks past the dining table and sees "A PLATE"!
I stared at the plate for a while. Maybe 5 seconds.
Right, have lost 5 seconds staring at the plate.
Could have used those 5 seconds washing it up.
So......I DID SOMETHING WHICH I SWORE I'VE NEVER DONE BEFORE!
I PUT THE PLATE,
THE EMPTY,
DIRTY ONE,
INSIDE THE FRIDGE,
AND
WENT
TO
BED.

Laurance of Margaret River Red 2003

Beautiful bottle. Stuff smells wonderful & tastes good. Would have been perfect if I had a slab of beef to go with it.
Description at the back of the bottle:
"This very elegant and smooth red is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot. This hand-picked grapes are harvested from our famly-run vineyard in Wilyabrup of Margaret River. Your nose will be seduced by fresh violets and taste buds tantalised by flavours rich in blackcurrant, mulberries and plums. It doesn't get any better. The epitome of Margaret River. ~Dianne Laurance"
Wait! I think I have some Bak Kwa lying around...
Review on Hou Ning
WOW.
WOW!!!
"Try them! Try them! And you may. Try them and you may (stop coughing!), I say." Not green eggs and ham, just some odd cud from a goat.
Vic asked if I've tried it to see how it tastes. Well, I went to the extent of scrapping the plastic vial, fit for lilliputians, with a toothpick to get every darn speck out. Taste them? You must be kidding. I rather eat gold. Cheaper!

32 and alive
ME says, " Prepare what?"
and then, it dawns on me... MY BIRTHDAY! HE DIDN'T PREPRARE ANYTHING FOR MY BIRTHDAY!
ME replies, "Aiyah, it's been 10 years and I'd be stupid to expect anything from you on my birthday! "
ME thinks HE simply cannot be taught new tricks!
Friends will ask, " Will HE get you presents?"
Last year, I think I said, "Better not expect anything, else will quarrel."
This year, I think I said, " I didn't marry him because he knows how to get me presents."
Next year, I think I'll say, " If I expect anything, we might as well get a divorce. "(Because that will mean I still don't know him well enough)
HE says, everyday is a day for celebration.
ME thinks, "Hey, I'm not getting presents everyday either!"
Anyway, I had a wonderful lunch with DD at the SSC today while HE tries to pretend HE might have arranged something for me during that time. Hahhaaa! Not taken in!
ME parents are coming over later. ME will have a nice dinner with them together with HE and the boy.
Cheers! Because I'm 32 and still kicking!
P.S. It has rained every year on this day since I was 7. It might have rained the 6 years before that but I'd never know. Anyway, it's raining today and this always brings me back to the day when I turned 7. I remember looking at the raindrops as it fell in our school courtyard, feeling the nice cool breeze on my cheeks and thinking how nice it is to have a birthday.

Rumpleous has been murdered! / Pink Muscat
" Thank you for your application to the Media Development Authority (MDA) First Time Writers & Illustrators Publishing Initiative,........after careful review and consideration, we regret to inform you that your submission has not been selected......."
Well well well.... if Laurie Notaro [ I am currently reading her book - I Love Everybody (and Other Atrocious Lies) ] which by the way, is a must read if you are thirtysomething ] took 7 years of trying before she manage to sell to the publishing house, then watch the resurrection of Rumpleous in 2014!
*sob sob*
Celebrated nothing with a Stella Bella Pink Muscat (Margaret River) 2006... First sniff yields a very pleasant mood uplifting muscat / floral aroma. Tastes sweet, clean and crisp without any acidic aftertaste. Absolutely delectable. Makes its appearance in a delightful blushing pink color too. Ooooooooh I like it! ...Berry verry nice!

Me: We are eating fried rice
BY: F**K rice?
Me: No, FRIED rice.
BY: F**K RICE?
Me: NOT F**K RICE, FRIED RICE!!!
BY: F**K RICE!
Two
At the Better Toy Store in Takashimaya last friday, I accidentally stepped on your middle finger when you stumbled and fell on the floor.
BY: *concentrating on his hurt finger* Look mummy look! *shows me his middle finger*
Me: Ok ok!! * quickly wraps my hand over his*
BY: *why isn't mummy acknowleging my new discovery?* Look mummy look! *Shouting* I can point with this finger!
From the corner of my eyes, I see other mummies covering their kids' eyes. My god! Where can I hide? Maybe in the bookshop downstairs?
Three
In Kinokuniya - the quiet bookshop downstairs.
The boy wants to run the ramp. The mummy is carrying him. The boy struggles to get down. The mummy tightens her hold. Boy tries to push his mummy off with his hands. Fails. Suddenly boy decides to announce. "MUMMY! I PUSHED YOUR NIPPLES!"
He's not yet three! Where are those pills that I was given after childbirth? I need them now!!!!!!
I give up!
The nurse convinced me to purchase the nebulizer compressor. Reason she gave? I could have bought 2 or 3 machines already, since I've rented it so many times. So, why not save money and get it for good? So...hanging on to the conviction that you do not have to use it again and again and again is a lost cause huh?
The GST alone today would have paid for 1 visit to the neighbourhood GP.

Living in the real world
Felt a tat lost in the real world, without online capabilities, even if it is just being offline for a couple of days...
I couldn't access my emails;
I couldn't read my friends' blogs;
I couldn't send out my resumes;
I couldn't find information I needed with just a few clicks.
It was frustrating...
Same goes with my mobile phone. My new personal plan had no caller ID service. Called the service providers up to make a fuss. Realised that it's a chargeable service. $5/month. Right, I'm putting my ears back in service. Sorry eyes, you don't get the privilege of seeing who's calling anymore.
But hey, I'm back online! YEAH!
And my ears are still serviceable! YEAH YEAH!

Tai-tai-dom or Die-die-dom?
- get a free ice-cream from Ben&Jerry during their annual free cone day for myself
- meet C.C for drinks at PS.Cafe @ Harding Road
- see 2 headhunters
- go to the zoo with the cough-syrup (you smell like one anyhow!)
- do laundry
- kill another 4-6 dozen ants getting high on real cough syrup
- visit Christine and her girls with the cough-syrup and watch 'Girl with a Pearl Earring'
Oh, on the way to Christine's, cough-syrup fell asleep and I left him in the car for 2 minutes to grab a cake. 2 minutes! I swear it was not much longer than that! Came out of the shop to see half a dozen people gathered around the car. I PANICKED! Did you wake up? Are you crying hysterically inside? What is happening? RAN to the car to find that you were still asleep and very peacefully at that. Got into the car, which was still cool with the air-conditioning of 2 minutes ago by the way and drove off. Wha piang eh!

Meditation
Sit cross-legged with good posture, spine straight and preferably on a soft pillow else legs will go numb (which mine did). Place palms facing up gently against each knee. Close your eyes and tighten the eyeballs a couple of times for a few seconds to relax them. I was clueless how to do that. Was given a clue: Do the same as what you would do if you saw your enemy. Narrow your eyes and stare!
For 20 minutes, repeat MmmmmmmmmmMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm as loudly as you can with each exhalation and feel the vibrations of the sound travelling between your navel and your head.
Then, for the next 10 minutes, keep quiet and visualise your heart as a white light or lotus flower.
Feel the sadness & fear melt away, replace by peace and compassion........or at least until someone starts snoring. (",)

Bits here and there
Have been staring at the www.mytax.iras.gov.sg page with a raised eyebrow, occasionally breaking out of the trance to shake my head and reposition my nicely plucked eyebrows. I don't get the "you surf, we serve" slogan. Maybe, if I wait longer and surf more, they'll serve me? Or maybe they can SEE me? Wow. Hey! Can I have a hot latte please? No? Fat hope? Ok... maybe I should stop procrastinating and start filing my taxes.......*sigh*
Oh, we went for a walk after dinner today and walked into a traffic logjam. The cause? The launch of a new condominium. Went closer to take a look. Couldn't resist the herd instincts. Tried to get my hands on a brochure. The doors were closed, and the sign planted outside it said 'Invited Guests Only' plus there was a looooooooooooooooooooooooong queue and crowds milling around. Someone was announcing 1242, 1245, 1246..... Since I have no chance of getting the brochure myself, I asked a middle-aged couple, who was seated like many years away from the door if I could take a look at theirs. You were on my hips. They looked at me like I was going to take their brochure and make a break for it. Ridiculous!
Am sure glad we have a home. Nice neighbours we'd have though.
Ok ok ok... now back to myTax Portal!

Farethewell
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Dear friends,
My last day at ***** would be this friday the 13th. Have known this was coming for a few months now. Towards the end, I couldn't have begged for it to be quicker, since hanging around, not doing much, is never good for myself as I know it.
I've lasted much much longer than I thought I would with this company, since my track record indicated < than 1 year for all the other places I've worked in. If it boils down to just 1 thing that have kept me going, it would be ... the colleagues, especially those who have become my very dear friends over these years, who have watched me grow, celebrated my triumphs and walked with me when I'm down.
It has been a thrill working here and I have the giddyness of someone who is just about to step off the best roller-coaster ride of her life. I have had it all - the nice and the nots, the highs and the lows, the fun and the angst. It would be interesting now to watch from the sides and you bet I will most definitely be watching!
Last but not least, I take away with me, something which I believe in with all my heart - that of connecting people. So here's wishing you guys nothing but the best and do stay in touch, because friendship crosses both time and space (and we all have that not one thing but many in our pockets to help us).
Best wishes,
Carrie

Full-time job($)
(1) Full time job at N*K*A...(although not for long)
(2) Full time job hunter... ( I have been sending out an average of 3 resumes per week)
(3) Full time mother ... (since Aug 2004)
(4) Full time housekeeper ... (since moving into our new place)
(5) Full time investor ... (since catching the property fever)
(6) Full time wife ... (almost forgot this one! [",] )
Read a funny book called Anthropology by Dan Rhodes last night. Here's an excerpt that cracked me up: "My girlfriend started charging me for sex. She said she had to think of her future, and anyway her friends did it so why shouldn't she? I didn't mind too much because her basic rates were very reasonable, although she always expected tips for extras..."
Sorry for being loopy. I'm just wondering... If I end job (1), get stuck in (2) without much progress, with (3) being self-fulfilling and therefore not quantifiable in terms of dollars and cents, (4) sadly at a remuneration = to nothing and (5) being risky, therefore, following the example from Anthropology, will being a (6) pay?

Snapped - a pau chomping moment amongst 2 cousins - during the annual visit to your paternal grandmother & great-grandmother's resting place to remember and honour them. You guys bantered incessantly and it was amusing to watch and listen to the both of you talk about things from air-con to sprite to somersauts to automatic doors to cold noodles to 'the-computer-that-one' (mouse) to who should sit on the 'baby chair'.
Thank you!

Underwater World Singapore
Went to the Underwater World & the Dolphin Lagoon at Sentosa this morning. It's been more than 6 years since I have been there. At one point in my life, I was visiting this place, an average of two times a week - it was one of my accounts when I was working with the agency.I think we did have quite a bit of fun together today. Mostly, you enjoyed touching the rays at the interactive pool. I was pretty surprised by these animals. They seemed to like being touched and kept swimming close to the edges for you to stroke them. Don't touch their fins though because they can get really tickly there. You did and ended up being sprayed which, added a few notches to your fun quotient.

Prenatal Class
(1) Bathing with a doll is NOT representative of how you would eventually bathe a baby.
(2) The breathing exercise, when not explained properly, causes one to hyperventilate instead.
(3) Watching a groaning naked woman give birth on video is no ideal way to introduce oneself into the terror of giving birth (especially if one has not done it before). Shall digress a little here. Recently read in the papers that they introduced a male Panda to a "Panda Sex" video in an attempt to interest him in the act. Wondering if they have a "Panda Birth" video for the lady in question. I bet you she's sure to keep herself celibate for life after watching it!
(4) It makes you quarrel with the baby care-giver. i.e No one who has looked after babies before will subscribe to leveling the milk powder off the scoop with a knife after each and every scoop.
(5) It does not teach you how to wake up every 2/3 hours round the clock to feed the baby for however many weeks/months it takes. Better still, breast milk is promoted as the best milk on earth for your little one and if you are wired up by nature to give your little one the best, then seriously, you'd find yourself alone in a daze with your lactating mamaries and no one else can really help you in this aspect, definitely not the non-lactating members of the tribe.
Therefore, Prenatal class = Useless

Swimming - Big Red Ant
The swim went well, although it's sad to notice that you've lost all your natural paddling instincts in the last 6 months. It has been that long since we brought you for swims because we were told specifically not to by your doctor.
Anyway, during out tramp after dinner, we found a badminton court with a gallery and you were climbing those huge terraces all by yourself to the top when suddenly, you held out your left arm, looked at it, shuddered and when "Arhh-Arhhh-Arhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! followed almost instantly by a torrent of tears. It was a big red ant. I managed to blow it away with just one puff. *Phew*
Had to hold on to you while you cried it out. You had stumbled on a whole line of them but thankfully, only one of them got onto you. Took me a while to reassure you that you are much bigger than the ants and that they won't hurt you if you don't disturb them. When you were done crying, we started to trace their migration path, taking care not to stand in their way and by the time we were finished with that, you had left your fright behind.

Better Decker
Your first trip on the double decker bus! You were so thrilled!
Took you to 'The Better Toy Store' at Ngee Ann City Tower B Level 4. Have to admit. I have never come across another store with a fuller range of Thomas the tank engine products. Very impressive!
Ate at MOS Burger after that. You wanted rice! So I ordered the kakiage (fresh seafood shrimp fritter) rice burger meal with an additional fresh Meiji milk drink for you.You urged, "You try! Try a little bit! You (pointing to the french fries) take one and dip (pointing to your ketchup sauce) here. Try! Very nice!" I obliged, then pointed to my own chilli sauce and asked you to try a little bit of it too. Ha! I'm definitely not the better salesman here today.

How?
You went to bed happy and well after we read "Green Light for the Little Red Train".
Can you get a fever from a hair cut? That's the only extraordinary thing we did yesterday.
And oh, it rained yesterday. Can you get a fever from the rain?
What about Charsiew rice? Can you get a fever from eating Charsiew rice?
Or school. Did anyone of your little friends smuggle a fever to school to share?
Tonight, you puked after I made you eat a spoonful of Neurofen. I tried to catch your vomit in my hands, thinking it was just the medication that was going to come out. Mistake. I couldn't move because my hands were full of your vomit so by the time you were done with vomiting, there was vomit on your mattress, vomit of my legs, vomit of my mattress, vomit on your shirt, vomit on the floor, vomit on the pillow. By the time I carried you to the toilet, there was a trail of V from the bed to the toilet, V on the sink, V in the shower, V on the walls.
Am I dreaming? Can all this be real?
Should I stop sending you to school? Or stop feeding you charsiew rice for dinner? Or stop giving you hair cuts? Or stop reading you that book... or just stop the heavens from ever raining again???!???
You know what? I'm just going to take the laundry out of the washing machine, put them in the dryer and go to bed.
Maybe I'm really just only dreaming!!!!

Sawadee-ka!
This is a very very impromptu trip. I won 2 return tickets on Jetstar last December. Got the "You've won!" sms from HSBC whilst in the car with YL so we decided we would do this trip together and we only really decided when just last week.
Your Papa followed and so, we got to stay FOC in his nice executive suite. YL said we are officially on a "Budget Tai-Tai" holiday, which made me laugh.
I really like to come here when your Papa's here. So many many nice memories of the time spent here. His previous apartment in Riverfront residence was probably what I'd consider our 1st marital home. Sweet.
Some recommendations:
Tailor - Pinky www.pinkytailor.com
Massage - HealthLand Spa www.healthlandspa.com
Food - (1) Baan Ajarn @ Soi Rangnam (2) Baan Khanitha @ 69 South Sathorn Rd
YL said I should record this conversation => The morning before we flew out, I told you mummy's going to the airport, to take the plane to Bangkok for a couple of days. You told me you wanted to take the plane too and when I asked you where you wanted to go, you said, "Go lunch!"

15th March
(1) A gay couple ;
(2) Half a cat ; and
(3) An eagle
If these were symbols that parallel my career, I'd like to interprete them like this>>>
Gay couple: The Past. I work with a lot of gay people in my industry.
Half a dead cat: The Present. Dead is not enough. Have to be dismembered as well.
Eagle: The Future. There’s hope!

Grandmother
(a) She's equally frustrated.
(b) It's ok for you to do that.
(c) It's a phase you'd grow out of because no adults are seen sprawled on the floor in shopping centres when they don't get what they want.
I asked her if I did that when I was young. She said, "Of course!" and that I choked on the plum I was eating and ended up in hospital.
Hmm... I vaguely recall this. Not the bit when I was fussing...more of the bit when I choked and all hell broke lose. The neighbours were activated. I was flipped upsidedown. Someone was whacking me. I couldn't breathe. Then, a trip to the hospital. I was asked to lie down on this cold cold cold bed without my dress. Pictures of my insides were taken.
My father tells me he sped through all the red lights from Changi Airport to Marine Parade to get home.
My brother tells me he was in charge of stirring the potty to find out if the pit had come out.

Euro Funfair @ Hougang
Entrance Fee for 2 adults (kids under 10 FOC) $4
Ferris Wheel for 3 $22.50
SuperJet for 2 $10
...you pointed to the bumper car right after we got off the SuperJet. Papa looked into his wallet. No more cash! This fair is freaking expensive plus they don't take Nets or Credit!
Fun but not fair.
PS. Dear fellow RadishHeads, the fair near Hougang MRT is on till the 18th of March. The Ferris Wheel is really huge (at least until the one in Marina is ready) and you'd get lifted up to about 10/12 storey high at the top. The kid loved it. Prepare cash. Loads. Regards, Chopped-RadishHead.

Multi-tasking
Then, rush out to pick you up. Went to IKEA for lunch - quite pleasant without the weekend crowds - and came home. Kept some of the ironed clothes, some of the folded ones too, before deciding that you need to nap. So, read you some books, sang you some songs, told you some stories and patted you to sleep.
Then, sat down to see if I have any more emails to clear and guess what? The Big One says, "Why you do everything halfway? (i.e there are still clothes in the washing machine, dryer, couch and window grill) The house is now so messy!"
I'm ready to go for the kill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
